Spaniards to Space Age:
400 Years of History

DAY 1: 7.5 hours
Discover the Naval Air Station from its beginning as a Navy Yard in 1825 to the present day operations. Stops include Civil War Fort Barrancas, the National Museum of Naval Aviation, and the IMAX Theater. Following lunch on the base, a riding tour of Pensacola’s three historic districts highlights the Creole cottages of the Seville District, the Victorian mansions of North Hill and turn-of-the-century downtown. A guided tour of Historic Pensacola Village showcases the colorful history of America’s first settlement.

DAY 2: 5 hours
Visit the T.T. Wentworth Museum of History which is housed in the 1908 former City Hall and features the largest private collection ever given to the State of Florida. A stop at Veterans Memorial Park highlights Wall South, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and World War I and World War II Memorials. Following lunch, enjoy the natural history of Santa Rosa Island with a riding tour of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and a visit to Civil War Fort Pickens.

Historic Pensacola and the Naval Air Station

From a 16th century Spanish colony to the space age technology of the Naval Air Station, enjoy the rich history of the “City of Five Flags” and the “Cradle of Naval Aviation.” This day-long tour includes a riding tour of the base with stops at Civil War Fort Barrancas and the National Museum of Naval Aviation. The museum with its 130 beautifully restored aircraft is one of the 3 largest aviation museums in the world. The museum visit also includes the IMAX Theater and lunch.
